The Yukon Songwriter Challenge

logo-music-yukonThe Songwriter Challenge took place over two days. The first day, July 19, was held at the historic Oddfellows Ballroom at the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture (KIAC). Participants gathered in the morning, introduced themselves and spoke about their experience with songwriting. Zachary then introduced himself, performed a short acoustic set of original songs, and the group discussed what they hoped to take from the workshops. Zachary then gave a summary of his unique approach to songwriting, and provided details of his own methods. A number of topics were covered including co-writing, and at the participant’s request, co-writing was focused on in-depth. Dave Macdonald of Seafoam Studios met with the group during lunch to get to know them and get a feel for their musical styles, prior to the recording session the following day.
