Music BC is a non-profit society serving the British Columbia music industry through providing essential information, education, funding, advocacy, showcasing, and networking opportunities. Music BC is dedicated to developing the spirit, growth and sustainability of the BC music community by supporting artists of all genres and music professionals throughout the industry.
Members of Music BC have access to essential music industry information. They can apply for development and funding opportunities, domestic and international showcase opportunities, attend music business workshops and industry networking events, and be a part of the voice for creator and content owner rights and for continued funding support for the music industry. Members also have access to our group health plan, discounted gear insurance, and special rates with many retail and service providers.
Music BC serves as the regional affiliate for FACTOR, and is a member of the Western Canadian Music Alliance, which produces the Western Canadian Music Awards and BreakOut West Festival. Music BC is the voice of the BC Music industry provincially and nationally, lobbying for funding support, tax credits and creators rights. We represent BC artists internationally through a variety of trade missions and showcases, which have included events at SXSW (USA), Reeperbahn (Germany), Big Sound Festival (Australia), CMW (Toronto) and Folk Alliance International (USA). By partnering with some of the largest event organizers in BC we’re able to offer members showcases at such festivals as Pemberton, Rifflandia, Whistler Film Fest, Mission Folk Festival and more.
Music BC is also an eligible recipient of radio CCD funding, and has worked in partnership with broadcasters to create programs such as the PEAK Performance Project, the K96.3 Emerging Artist Program, and the upcoming Roundhouse Discovery Project.
